The 2007 Zestiest Jammin' Banman!

My mailbox was jammed with excited voters from all over the world! And while everyone received votes for zest (some even responded to Paul’s tricky reverse psychology by voting for Paul, just as Paul had planned), we had a clear winner.

Jammin' Natalie Sileci!

Natalie’s prize is a fun-filled afternoon at the Interkart go-kart race track. This prize includes:

* A full period of action-packed driving for Natalie and one friend!
* Hairpin turns in a rented helmet and balaclava!
* Photos on the victory podium!
* A print-out indicating fastest lap and zestiest speed!
* An invitation to this friend for a sleepover! This will include many treats such as movies from Blockbuster, a healthy dinner, a less healthy snack, a delicious breakfast and lots of time to show zest!

Natalie's Zest Essay

As we all see, I obviously have the best picture. So, I think I should the grand prize because my picture shows creativity, and courage. I mean, if you actually think about it, you wouldn’t want to sit in the shower with an old T-shirt on, just to take a picture. I had just come home from church, and I wanted to go to bed. I had tons of homework to finish, but I decided to dedicate my time to taking a picture for the Jammin’ Banmans for YOU to see how badly I want to win. Vote for me, and all your wildest dreams will come true.

NOTE TO EDITOR: 100 words is too little, too little words to describe how much I look great in this picture. Matter fact, no words can describe how I look great. I look too fabulous for words. Indescribable.

Mary's Zesty Essay

My love or "zest" for the Broncos began a long time ago. Dad and I had tickets in the South stands for many years with the beer drinkers and crazy people - had a cup of beer spilled down by back one time. I've always teased Dad about "sitting on his hands" and not getting excited like I did. I was lucky enough to see the GREAT John Elway play. Always will remember when we beat Cleveland (in Cleveland) to get to the Super Bowl and Sue and Chris plus thousands met the team at the airport on a very snowy day. My one regret is not living in Denver when they won their first Super Bowl to share in the celebration.

Nemo's Zesty Essay

We were having a perfectly good time, frolicking on the porch, I with my claws and you in your furriness. Friskier and friskier, until your friendly body went limp. Not yet, I proclaimed, it's only mid-day! We will dream together tonight, new friend, on the back deck. But you would not awaken. I had only just begun to catch a glimpse of your true inner light. Don't you see it? I couldn't help but wonder. See it, see it now. Turn, turn to look. I wanted you to see your inner self as beautifully as I could see it. Detached, in helpless wonder, we both gazed at once.

Zack's Zesty Essay

Sniffing butts, getting my back scratched, eating leftover cat food, and barking out the car window, these are all my favorite things. But when The People start laughing, or moving about the living room in a quick manner, or speak loudly, I feel my hair tingle and I wish to be Among Them. If only for a moment, until I am yelled at, then the moment passes. Like an amputee with phantom pain, I will mourn for the living room loneliness, I frequently feel.

I don't think I should win the Zest Test. The person who displayed the most zest was Natalie. Even the photograph had more zest than any of the others. Many years ago a philosopher named Marshall Mcluhan said "The medium is the message." Thus, Natalie is the zestiest.

Zesta Ada

We missed the deadline, but wanted everyone to see our Zesty Kitten, Ada! She loves jumping/climbing to the top of the rattan blinds in the living room, where she chases mosquitoes and dust bunnies... (there's a last one to show Zesty Ada at Resty).

Zesty Final Round!

We have closed the ballot boxes with a loud slam. The semi-finals are over and the Zesty Banmans are nearly ready for the final vote.

There was one clear winner: Natalie Sileci, two points ahead of her nearest competitors.

There was a three-way tie for second place: Bronco Bustin’ Mary, Nemo and Zack.

And in third place: Man of Action, Paul.

And yet, just so close to entering the final round were Allison, Jake and the Steve and Sandy duo photo.

To decide on the final winner, there will now be an essay contest. All of the five individuals above will need to submit an essay on why they believe they are the zestiest of the Jammin’ Banmans. This essay cannot exceed 100 words.

We will then cast our final votes, based not only on the zesty photos we have all come to love but also on the essay portion of the competition. I’m sorry to say that there will be no swimsuit portion, as Paul’s bikini was destroyed by a flash flood earlier this year.

Please vote for the three individuals with the most zest. Your votes should be based what the photos reveal about the individual's inner zest.

* Voting is private until all results have been tallied.

* You may vote for your top three zesty Jammin' Banmans any time within the next 24 hours - voting ends at 8:30 a.m. São Paulo time. That's about Tuesday lunchtime for most of you.

* Three semi-finalists will be chosen. From the moment these results are posted on Tuesday morning, you'll then have 24 hours to choose the final Zestiest Jammin' Banman.
